Devils Creek At The Seven Stars - Review With Photos

Rocking the blues with a sledgehammer groove, this Cornish trio take the Rory Gallagher / Jimi Hendrix blueprint and bring it kicking and screaming to a town near you. High octane no frills bluesicianship - a solid testament to the enduring power and influence of Blues Rock - especially the variety in which a wailing Fender Strat comes front and centre.
"Along with pasties and the A30,definitely the best thing to come out of Cornwall in a long time.." (Planet Rock)

Review:

Devils Creek a locally well known and loved covers band played at the SEVEN STARS in Penryn On Saturday 5th November. Playing a mixture of blues rock covers, from Jimmi Hendrix to Rory Gallagher then topped off with a bit of zizi.

The pub/venue: Consists of a old stone cottage, this cosy welcoming pub in the heart of a small town called Penryn with a rockin’ landlord who loves his RUSH. Deceivingly bigger than it looks the pub has a nicely sized stage area in the center/back of the pub for everyone to have a good view of. There is a second room (which I never noticed until my third visit to the place) comes with a pool table and outside you will find a nice sized seating area.

The band were a nice friendly bunch of guys and I had the pleasure of meeting them once, when I bought their album ‘Working The Chains’ The band members: Guy Rosewall – guitar/vocals. It was going to be the second time for me to seen these guys play, and I was really looking forward to seeing them again. A few Jack and cokes on the go and a bit of blues is my idea of heaven. Musically, I thought that they were just as good as the last time they played. Sound was great and the band pulled in a nice crowd. Devils Creek are an enjoyable and entertaining band to watch and listen t. They have a good interaction with the crowd, not to mention beautiful and soulful playing, I will definitely be seeing them a third time that is for sure.
